"Slievenaglasha"

US$9,000.00

“Slievenaglasha” is a 36 × 72 inch original contemporary mixed media piece created in 2026 using acrylic, natural earth paints, and ink. Part of the ongoing “Paintings as Portals” series, this piece was inspired by the Irish myth An Glas Gaibhne and of a mountain near my home in Ireland, namely Slievenaglaise .

This work came to be in the aftermath of hurricane Helene, when I was reminded of beautiful Irish myth that had been told to me by a farmer and poet Patrick McCormack at the foot of Slievenaglaise. In the story there is the great cow goddess of ancient Ireland giving freely to all till her generosity is abused. In the painting I am dreaming of a second chance to rekindle this ancient undertaking of the reciprocity that nourishes life.
